Membership

Society for Neuroscience (SfN) Institutional Program (IP) membership is a specialized membership available for formal programs at educational or research facilities that include undergraduate, predoctoral, or postdoctoral trainees engaged in neuroscience research and/or study, and that provide trainees with the expertise in a wide range of interdisciplinary scientific skillsets that propel the scientific enterprise towards discovery and an understanding of the workings of the nervous system. IP Membership eligibility is extended to: 

• Academic departments and programs that award undergraduate major or advanced degrees in neuroscience, or neuroscience-related disciplines (e.g., psychology, biomedical engineering); 

• Non-degree granting training entities, including: 

• Short-term training grants;  

• Post-baccalaureate programs; 

• Organizations with summer neuroscience programs;  

• Non-degree granting research institutes or centers;  

• Postdoctoral training programs at pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies;  

Current benefits for IP members include:  

• A listing in the Institutional Programs Directory 

• One free email per year to SfN’s student members  

• Discounted booth fees for graduate degree-granting programs to exhibit at the Graduate School Fair at SfN’s annual meeting if IP membership is renewed prior to registration opening in the spring   

• A 25% discount on any NeuroJobs Career Center (NJCC) package (including interview booths) purchased during the membership year  

All IP membership applications are reviewed by the Neuroscience Training Committee Chair. If you are interested in more than one type of membership (e.g., graduate and postdoctoral memberships), please submit separate applications for each membership.
